The length of the drain snake is only 50 ft. long meaning if the clog is any further down the line (which you won’t know until you start) then you won’t be able to clear it and you’ve wasted your time and money.

For those who aren’t familiar with that type of equipment it can be dangerous to operate. Those machines are extremely powerful and can cause serious harm if they’re not operated properly.

The unknown

If you’re renting a drain snake then chances are you don’t have access to a drain camera to check out the pipes beforehand.
